HISTORY

The school was founded in September 1965 by a group of parents concerned about having, in Monterrey, a school that believes in the human potential of the child, where he/she is respected from a young age as an individual that develops by him/herself, that is, an institution that is at the educational vanguard demanded by our times, constantly evolving and with the mission of providing a high-level education to prepare students for college and mainly for life, within an increasingly global community.

The Colegio Montessori Sierra Madre, A. C., is a private, autonomous and non-profit institution. It is incorporated to the Ministry of Education and affiliated to the Federation of Private Schools of Nuevo Leon.

In 2008, it was granted its Accreditation by the American Montessori Society (AMS), a globally recognized organization that sets the standards of Montessori education as well as oversees and supports their fulfillment.

It is associated to the UNESCO in 2006 with the commitment to work for peace education.

It also is accredited in 2009 as a Green School by Desarrollo de la Cultura Ecológica A.C. (FOMCEC) (Association for the Promotion of Ecological Culture) to work for the benefit of an ecological education.
